Yörük Market and Cooking Workshop with the Chef:
A Journey to the Flavors of Adatepe
The village markets located at the foothills of the Ida Mountains represent one of the most authentic culinary cultures of Anatolia. The “Yörük Market and Cooking Workshop with the Chef” experience, organised by Ida Blue, introduces guests to this deep-rooted culture while offering the opportunity to directly touch the abundance of the soil.
In the early hours of the morning, we set off towards the Yörük Market accompanied by our hotel’s chef. While wandering among stalls full of the season’s fresh herbs, olive oils, homemade cheeses, jams, and local products prepared by village women, you step into the colourful world of Aegean cuisine.
Later in the cooking workshop, the menu prepared together slowly takes shape: Olive oil dishes with fresh herbs, appetizer plates presented with village bread, meats marinated with aromatic herbs, or traditional recipes cooked in the heat of the tandoor.
Harvest Events:
A Journey to the Bountiful Seasons of Mount Ida
In the Ida Mountains, nature takes on a different colour and aroma every season. Seasonal harvest events organised by Ida Blue offer guests the experience of being part of this cycle and of touching nature and the soil. Olive harvest in autumn, lavender fields in spring, vintage at the end of summer, and pomegranate picking time in the last moments of autumn… Each tells of the fertile lands of the Ida Mountains, local production traditions, and the beauty of sharing.
During the olive harvest, olives are shaken down with the villagers, collection baskets are carried, and the first olive oil pressing is observed in traditional stone-press workshops. When lavender season arrives, walks are taken through the purple sea of fields, lavender bouquets are prepared, and lavender lemonade or lavender jam is made in the hotel kitchen.
During the grape harvest season, guests take part in the traditional vintage, collecting grape bunches and visiting local vineyards and wine producers. In pomegranate season, gardens are painted red as the fruits are gathered by hand.
Each harvest offers an opportunity to feel the rhythm of nature, share labour, and participate in the living traditions of the Ida Mountains. Ida Blue designs these experiences to preserve traditional methods while creating a meaningful bond between its guests and the land.
